Hollywood 1927: Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont are the dream couple at Monumental Pictures – every silent film featuring the two stars, for whom the film industry has invented a romance in private too, is a sensational success. When the invention of talking films shakes Hollywood to its foundations, one thing soon becomes clear: In their next film, Don and Lina will have to dazzle audiences with their sonorous voices and witty dialogues instead of meaningful gestures and expressive eyes. It's not a problem for Don – but although Lina has all the charms of a star, she also has a squeaky voice and, in addition, a very common accent. So it's no wonder that the advance premiere of the latest film starring the couple ends in disaster! But Don's friend Cosmo Brown has an idea which looks as if it could save them all: The unemployed theatre actress Kathy Selden is to lend Lina her voice …

Do you think instantly of the brilliant dance number in the rain which captivated millions of cinema-goers all over the world and which gave its title to the musical film "Singin’ in the Rain"? The double Oscar-nominated Hollywood classic from 1952 is still one of the most famous and most popular works ever for the screen and is the unbeaten number 1 in the 25 most important musical films of all times. In 1983, the cinema success about the time when the talkies were still in their infancy was adapted for the stage by Betty Comden and Adolph Green. Since then, "Singin’ in the Rain" has been wowing theatre audiences too with its fast-paced dance numbers, sparkling dialogues and brilliant songs such as "Good Morning", "Make ’Em Laugh", "Broadway Rhythm" and "You Are My Lucky Star". You can look forward to a fantastic musical experience in the Prinzregententheater, in a stunning new production by Josef E. Köpplinger!
