The master builder's daughter Josepha von Weisborn, with whom the young composer is passionately in love, is also with them. He is unable to declare his feelings, in contrast with »handsome Franz« von Tassié, who is also keen on Josepha …
After the successful premiere of her opera »Liliom«, Johanna Doderer composed a new work for the stage as a commission for the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz: »Schuberts Reise nach Atzenbrugg«. Along with the famous Austrian poet Peter Turrini, she has created a gentle, sensuous work about life as an artist – cheerful, unfathomable and melancholy, in the Schubertian sense.
