»Pumuckl steals, Pumuckl snatches, nobody catches!« Or at least, that's what the little rhyme-loving hobgoblin with the red hair thinks, until he finally comes across a glue pot in Master Eder's carpentry workshop. And if a hobgoblin sticks to anything human, he suddenly becomes visible and has to live with the person who has discovered him. This is Hobgoblin Law, and even Master Eder cannot do anything about it and needs to get used to the fact that from now on, nothing is as it used to be. Because Pumuckl remains invisible to everyone else, and Master Eder now has to take the blame for everything that the little hobgoblin concocts. But soon, the old bachelor can no longer imagine life without the lovable little horror…
Pumuckl is noisy and cheeky, loves to play tricks on a large and small scale and does not abide by the rules of everyday coexistence. In short: he does all the things that every child – and every adult too – would like to do but is generally not allowed to. In the little descendant of the ancient hobgoblins, Munich-born Ellis Kaut created one of the most popular figures in German entertainment culture back in 1962. As a radio play, a series of books or a television series – Master Eder and his Pumuckl have conquered the hearts of countless children, remaining unchanged over the generations. The famous theatre producer and composer Franz Wittenbrink, along with author Anne X. Weber and director Nicole Claudia Weber, have brought the popular duo to the stage of the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in a lively musical version and are presenting a cheerful theatrical delight for the enjoyment of young and old alike: »Let's give a cheer, Pumuckl's here« – goes the rhyme, and whatever rhymes is good!
