Due to an incredibly ridiculous misunderstanding, instead of “privately”, the young Frederic has completed his training, “with the pirates”. Now that he is finished with learning he wants to uses his grappling hooks and set course for the fairer sex. He immediately it encounters in the form of the Major General’s daughter, Mabel, whose father, rather unfortunately, intends to put an end to all pirates once and for all. And so Frederic suddenly finds himself bang in the middle between good and evil again – or between evil and good?
The musical buccaneering satire, “The Pirates of Penzance”, is without doubt one of the highlights of the oeuvre of the British writing duo, “Gilbert & Sullivan”, which helped shape English-language musical entertainment theatre in the 19th century. An absurdly funny plot full of sharp-tongued British humour meets witty, catchy songs – and from it all comes a virtuoso “piratey” nonsense, which to this today delivers as much fun as it did back way back then!
