"No more fairy tales!" Karlheinz the Great, ruler of the Kingdom Just Around the Corner, demands of his son. Instead of burying himself in books of fairy tales, he wants the Prince to marry – ideally, to marry a commoner in order to keep the anti-royal opposition happy. Half the kingdom is agog when a huge ball is organised: Which of the ladies there will the Prince fall in love with? But he is not interested in the events at the ball – until he meets Ella Zinder, known as Cinderella. In fact, the two of them are running into each other – literally, because the daughter of the opposition leader and the Prince have become extremely short-sighted from reading so much. Then everything moves very fast: Cinderella loses her shoe, the Prince and his loyal companion, Horst the dancing horse, set off in pursuit and the wicked stepmother and ugly sisters get ready to try on shoes …
The theme of the fairy tale of Cinderella dates back to ancient times and appears in no fewer than 400 versions throughout the world. The composer, author and self-proclaimed "word acrobat" Thomas Pigor created his own version of the fairy tale classic in 1990 – a story without any sentimentality or dusty palace chambers, but with plenty of music, dance, slapstick and enchanting songs. You can look forward to a fairy tale musical for the whole family that pulls at the heartstrings with wit and charm!
