Udo Haberland
Udo Haberland initially worked in Berlin as a photographer before starting to work in 1988 both for film and television productions and for the State Theatre in Stuttgart. As freelance lighting designer and master lighting technician, he has created commissioned works for the ballet, dance, opera and theatre in Europe, the USA and Australia. In addition, he has also worked for various festivals such as the Salzburg Festival, Wiener Festwochen and the Ludwigsburg Festival. For events, he has created the lighting design for such clients as Hugo Boss, Formula 1 and Strenesse. In the area of film and TV-advertising, he has worked for Arte, MTV, Viva, ARD, ZDF and NDR, Deutsche Telekom, Daimler-Chrysler, Toyota and Kodak, among others.
At the Stuttgart Ballet, Udo Haberland developed the lighting design for all the productions created by Marco Goecke, including the two full-length works »Der Nussknacker« (2006) and »Orlando« (2010). In addition, he also conceived the lighting design for the works created by Marco Goecke for the Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, Les Ballets de Monte Carlo, the Nederlands Dans Theater 1 and 2, the State Ballet in Berlin and the Norwegian National Ballet in Oslo.
For the choreographer Cayetano Soto, he developed the lighting design for his production of »Carmen« for the Dortmund Ballet and the Czech National Ballet in Brno. Other works in the area of dance were completed with the choreographers Örjan Andersson for »Eroica« (2010) and Jérôme Delbey for »I Shall Die in Florence« in Göteborg, Giovanni Di Palma for »Romeo und Julia« at the São Paulo Companhia de Dança (2013) and Bridget Breiner for the Latvian National Ballet in Riga (2014).
