Tom Weinberger
Born in Israel, dancer and choreographer Tom Weinberger joined the Batsheva Ensemble and the Batsheva Dance Company under the artistic direction of Ohad Naharin after graduating from the Amal School of Arts and Sciences. It was during this time that he began to create his own choreographies. In 2012, he became a founding member of L-E-V Dance Company with Sharon Eyal and Gai Behar. In his international career, Tom Weinberger has danced with companies such as Gothenburg Ballet (Sweden), the Alan Lucien Øyen-founded Winter Guests (Norway), Emanuel Gat Dance (France), was a guest artist with Michael Keegan Dolanʼs Fabulous Beast Dance Theatre (United Kingdom) and with The Forsythe Company (Germany). In 2014, his first solo piece won the International Solo Dance Theatre Festival (Stuttgart) and toured Europe and South America. Since then he has created works for Johannes Wieland Company, Nederlands Dans Theater 2, Ate9 Dance (USA), Springboard Danse Montréal and Arts Umbrella (Canada), NSP2 (Norway), Tanz Luzern (Switzerland), Iceland Dance Company, GoteborgsOperan DansKompani (Sweden).
Tom Weinberger is a certified teacher of the special »Gaga« movement culture and has taught for the past 15 years in companies, schools and programmes at San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, Taipei University of the Arts, Springboard Danse Montréal, Arts Umbrella, GoteborgsOperan DansKompani, Strut Dance, TanzMainz, Ballet BC in Vancouver and the Royal Danish Ballet, among others. In 2016, he was invited by the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Foundation in collaboration with the Israel Institute to work as a resident artist at Purchase College, State University New York. In 2021, he received the prestigious award of the Israeli Ministry of Culture for his exceptional performance.
