Tilmann Unger
The tenor Tilmann Unger, who comes from Baden-Württemberg, studied initially at the Institute of Musicology at the University of Freiburg, and at the University of Music Würzburg.
He was an ensemble member of the theatres in Würzburg and Augsburg, where he sang many roles within his field, including Tamino in »Die Zauberflöte«, Lensky in »Eugen Onegin«, Pelléas in »Pelléas et Mélisande«, Cassio in »Otello«, Narraboth in »Salome«, Stewa in »Jenufa«, the Duke in »Eine Nacht in Venedig«, First Stranger in »Der Vetter aus Dingsda« and Barinkay in »Der Zigeunerbaron«.
From 2007 to 2012, Tilmann Unger was a member of the ensemble of Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz, where he appeared as Count Tassilo in »Gräfin Mariza«, Prince Gwidon in »Das Märchen vom Zaren Saltan«, Albert Gregor in »Die Sache Makropulos«, Max in »Der Freischütz«, Eisenstein in »Die Fledermaus«, the Prince in »Die Liebe zu den drei Orangen« and Hans in »Die verkaufte Braut«.
In 2012, he took on the role of Dr Siedler in »Im Weißen Rössl« in Josef E. Köpplinger's production and also sang this role in the 2013/14 season at the Graz Opera House. In 2013, he made a guest appearance at the Theater Münster as the "attractive Mr Hermann" in Hindemith's »Neues vom Tage« and in a production by the city of Bayreuth he played the parts of Siegmund and Siegfried in »Ring an einem Abend«, produced by Philippe Arlaud. In 2014, he made his debut as Parsifal at the Landestheater Innsbruck.
Tilmann Unger also makes regular concert appearances. At a Wagner Gala in Beijing, for example, he sang extracts from »Die Walküre« and »Tristan und Isolde«. His repertoire also includes Mahler's »Das Lied von der Erde« and Beethoven's 9th Symphony. In addition, the tenor can also be heard regularly in the major concert halls of Berlin, Hamburg, Munich and Vienna. He made a guest appearance at the International Dvorak Festival »Dvořákova« in Prague in September 2014 as part of the first performance of Dvořák's »Alfred«.
