Composer
Thomas Morse
The US American Thomas Morse began his musical career at an early age and composed his first orchestral work whilst he was still at school. After gaining a Bachelor's in composition at the University of North Texas, he moved to the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, where he obtained his Master's and trained further in the field of film music. In the following years, Thomas Morse composed more than a dozen film scores, including music for »The Big Brass Ring« (Orson Welles’ last script, with William Hurt and Miranda Richardson), »The Sisters« (with Maria Bello, Elizabeth Banks) and »The Apostate« (with Dennis Hopper), and for Jerry Bruckheimer's famous TV series »The Amazing Race«. With the aim of focussing more on the concert arena, Thomas Morse started to turn towards Germany at the beginning of the 2000s. In collaboration with the librettist and director Kenneth Cazan, he composed his first opera, »Frau Schindler«, on which he had started preliminary work in 2003, for the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz.
