Video Design / Video Production
Thomas Mahnecke
Thomas Mahnecke studied visual design, media technology and digital telecommunications technology in Berlin and Munich. For over 15 years now, the video artist has been concentrating on creating complex multimedia, interactive video and three-dimensional space installations.
His works can be found in countless museums and in musical theatre, dance and performance projects. In his work, he always tries to blend modern technologies and tried and trusted traditional stage techniques to create a new form of visual expression. His particular focus is on transforming space through the use of apparently three-dimensional light projections.
He has been working as a video designer at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz since the 2012/2013 season and has created a number of large-format stage projections here for productions including »Das Dschungelbuch«, »Gefährliche Liebschaften«, »Tschitti Tschitti Bäng Bäng«, »Der Flaschengeist«, »Berlin 1920 – Eine Burleske«, »Anything Goes« and »Im weißen Rössl«.
His works for the stage, however, are also regularly to be seen outside the Gärtnerplatztheater, such as the new production of »Der Mond« at the most recent Carl Orff Festival in Andechs in summer 2015, and his interactive video installations for the independent cultural scene in Munich.
