Chorus
Thomas Hohenberger was born in Weißenburg in Bavaria. After completing a vocational training to become a communications electronics engineer and graduating from the two-stage Vocational College in Scheyern at 'A' level standard, he gained access to classical singing through the Bavarian Singakademie directed by Kurt Suttner. After studying singing for two years with Hartmut Elbert in Munich, he started a course in classical singing with Norbert Orth and subsequently with Marilyn Schmiege at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich in 1999. He graduated in 2004 with a degree in Music Theatre and Opera Singing, and this was followed by taking part in a Lieder course with Donald Sulzen and an oratorio course with Nikolaus Hillebrand.
In addition to performing in the first performance of the opera anthology »The last days of V.I.R.U.S.« by Moritz Eggert, a Bavarian Theatre Academy project as part of the »A-DEvantgarde Festivals« in Munich, as Cecco (»Il mondo della luna«) in the Pasinger Fabrik and Masetto (»Don Giovanni«) at the Chiemgau Music Festival in Gut Immling, Thomas Hohenberger can regularly be heard as a soloist in masses, cantatas and oratorios.
He has been a permanent member of the chorus of Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz since the 2003/2004 season, where he also regularly takes on minor solo roles like Monsieur Renaud (»La Cage aux Folles«), Brandner (»Dr. Faust jr.«), Piffke (»Der Bettelstudent«) and Mr. Lindquist (»A Little Night Music«).
