Tamara Haskin
The soprano Tamara Haskin was born in the USA and studied singing at the University of Arts in Philadelphia and the Institut D’Art Vocal Dejean in Paris. Her first engagements as a soloist in the Young Artist Programmes of the Minnesota Opera were followed initially by appearances in 20th century operas including Rose (»Dead Man Walking«) at the New York City Opera, Mary (»York: The Voice of Freedom«) at the Penn State Opera and the Strawberry Woman (»Porgy and Bess«) at the Tulsa Opera. She attracted international attention in roles such as Fiordiligi (»Così fan tutte«) and Musetta (»La bohème«) at the Festival Lyrique-en-Mer, Santuzza (»Cavalleria rusticana«) at the Boheme Opera in New Jersey, Elisabetta (»Don Carlo«) at Stadttheater Hagen and in particular in the role of Aida, which she interpreted at the Theater Hof, the Theater Regensburg and the Makedonska Opera in Skopje, among others. Tamara Haskin is also active as a concert singer; her repertoire ranges from Beethoven's 9th Symphony through Bruckner's »Te Deum«, Verdi's Requiem and Rossini's »Stabat mater« to the song cycle »Reflections«, composed specially for her by the Cuban composer Tania Leon, and which she has performed in such venues as Carnegie Hall in New York.
