Tamara Gura
Tamara Gura was born in the USA. Engagements have already taken the young mezzo-soprano to some of the most famous European opera houses, including the English National Opera in London, the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, the State Opera in Hamburg and the Semperoper in Dresden. She has worked with conductors such as Ingo Metzmacher, James Conlon, Nello Santi, Christian Curnyn, Alessandro De Marchi, Alan Curtis, Matthew Halls and George Petrou. At the State Opera in Hamburg, she appeared in roles such as Sesto (»Giulio Cesare in Egitto«), Polina (»Pique Dame«), Zaida (»Il turco in Italia«) and Gymnasiast [High School Boy] (»Lulu«). From 2007 to 2011, she was a member of the ensemble of the Baden State Theatre in Karlsruhe, where she played such roles as Idamante (»Idomeneo«), Cherubino (»Le nozze di Figaro«), Dorabella (»Così fan tutte«), Zerlina (»Don Giovanni«) and Hänsel (»Hänsel und Gretel«). In 2010, she made her début as Rosina (»Il barbiere di Siviglia«) at the Semperoper in Dresden.
More recent engagements have taken her, for example, to the English National Opera and the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma as Hermia in Britten's »A Midsummer Night’s Dream« and to Salzburg as Cenerentola, Ariodante and Dorabella. Further guest engagements included Balkis in »Die Pilger von Mekka« in Salzburg, the title role in »La Cenerentola« at the Erfurt Theatre and the Dortmund Theatre, Prince Orlofsky (»Die Fledermaus«) in Tokyo and Cherubino at the Central City Opera Festival in the USA.
