Sébastien Rouland
Sébastien Rouland trained as a cellist but was captivated by the idea of conducting an orchestra even as a child. Since 2002, he has become established as one of the most versatile conductors of his generation and has conducted opera productions in cities such as Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Strasbourg, Vienna, Berlin, Stuttgart, Wiesbaden, Essen, Lucerne, St. Gallen, Bern, Lisbon, Tel Aviv and Mexico City. In 2015, he made his successful début at the Opéra National de Paris with Gluck's »Alceste«.
On the concert platform, he has worked with the Poznan Philharmonic Orchestra, the Transylvania Philharmonic Orchestra Iasi, the Rumanian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Brno Philharmonic Orchestra, the Prague Chamber Orchestra, the Sinfonietta Riga, the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, the Portuguese National Orchestra, the St. Gallen Symphony Orchestra, Camerata Zurich, the RSO Frankfurt, the Orchestra of the Handel Festival in Halle, the Staatskapelle in Karlsruhe, the Essen Philharmonic, the Tyrol Symphony Orchestra Innsbruck, the Musiciens du Louvre Grenoble and the Orchestre National de Lyon, amongst others.
The production of »La vie parisienne« conducted by him at the Opéra National de Lyon was issued as a DVD by Virgin Classics. Most recently, he conducted works including Mozart's »Idomeneo« in Montpellier, Offenbach's »Pariser Leben« at the Volksoper in Vienna, Handel's oratorio »Il trionfo del tempo e del disinganno« at the Berlin State Opera and Gounod's »Faust« in the Aalto Theatre Essen.
