Rainer Sinell

Rainer Sinell grew up in Berlin and studied stage decoration and costumes there at the Academy of the Arts. Thereafter he went to New York for a year of study. Permanent engagements linked him to the municipal theatres in Freiburg, Hessen's State Theatre in Wiesbaden and the Municipal Theatre in Augsburg.

Guest invitations have thus far taken him to Deutsche Oper in Berlin, Augsburg Theatre, to Hessen's State Theatre in Darmstadt, to Dortmund Theatre, to Mannheim National Theatre, the Hans Otto Theatre in Potsdam, the State Theatre of Mecklenburg in Schwerin, the Graz Opera, the Stadttheater Klagenfurt, the Leipzig Opera , the Music Theatre in Industrial Gelsenkirchen, to Viennaʼs Chamber Opera and Neue Oper, to the State Opera in Prague, Burgtheater in Vienna, the State Opera in Pretoria, the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux, the Washington Opera, Hamburg State Opera, Nuremberg State Theatre, the Vienna Volksoper and the Vienna State Opera.

At Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz he made his debut in 2004 with »Gräfin Mariza«. 2012–2015 he has been linked with the theatre as set director and has been in charge here for the sets of »Im weißen Rössl«, »Peter und der Wolf«, »Der Bettelstudent«, »Die Zirkusprinzessin«, »Gefährliche Liebschaften«, »Dr. Faust jr.«, »A Little Night Music«, »Liliom«, »Jesus Christ Superstar«, »Die lustige Witwe«, »My Fair Lady«, »Drei Männer im Schnee« (awarded with the »Deutsche Musical Theater Preis 2019«) and others.
