Monika Bohinec

The Slovenian mezzosoprano Monika Bohinec studied singing at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and at the Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Vienna. She gave her operatic debut in 2006 as the role of Clarissa (»Die Liebe zu den drei Orangen«) at the Slovenian State Opera. In the 2009/2010 and 2010/2011 seasons, Monika Bohinec was an ensemble member of the National Theatre in Mannheim, where she sang among others, the roles of Carmen, Giulietta (»Les Contes d’Hoffmann«), Suzuki (»Madama Butterfly«) and Ulrica (»Un ballo in maschera«). Since the 2010/2011 season, she is an ensemble member of the Wiener Staatsoper where, until now, she has sung parts including Fenena (»Nabucco«), Suzuki, Marcellina (»Le nozze di Figaro«), Ulrica, Fremde Fürstin (»Rusalka«) and Erste Norn (»Götterdämmerung«). She has further sung at the Salzburger Festpiele, at the Münchner Theater am Gärtnerplatz (Amneris in »Aida«), in Wiesbaden, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Rijeka (Principessa di Bouillon in »Adriana Lecouvreur«), Maribor (Suzuki), at the Seefestspielen Mörbisch (Czipra in »Der Zigeunerbaron«) and with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in the Royal Albert Hall in London.
