Stage Design
Momme Hinrichs
Momme Hinrichs has achieved international prominence as co-founder of the artistic duo fettFilm, with which he has played a major role in the development of video projections, as well as the role of video-designers, in theaters since the year 2000. He has also been active as a set designer since 2007, producing work that achieves a symbiosis between the stage and projections, leading to an integrated artform that seamlessly merges the music with the action on stage.
His work has led him to many of Europe’s leading festivals such as those of Salzburg, Bayreuth and Bregenz, as well as opera houses in Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Cologne, Hanover, Oslo, Paris, Toulouse, Nancy, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Vienna, Budapest, Barcelona, and Florence, in addition to international theaters in North America, China, India and in the Middle East.
Among his accolades is Ukraine’s highest state award for culture and the arts, the Shevchenko National Prize, which was awarded in 2021 to the Donbass Opera Donetsk’s production of »The Flying Dutchman« for which he and fettFilm designed the sets and projections. Mr. Hinnrichs is also a successful stage director in his own right, and has been working as such since 2014.
In the upcoming season he will design the sets and videos for the new production of »Salome« at the Opéra de Paris, »Die Frau ohne Schatten« at Baden Baden (Video) and »Anatevka« at Theater Würzburg. At the Gärtnerplatztheater he works for the first time as set and video designer for »Die Zauberflöte«.
