Mercedes Arcuri

The soprano Mercedes Arcuri was born in Buenos Aires and studied at the Instituto Superior de Arte of the Teatro Colón. She was a finalist in a number of international singing competitions, such as the Luis Mariano Song Contest 2007, the Concours de Chant de Marmande 2008 and the Francisco Viñas’ Competition 2008, as was a prize-winner at the International Singing Competition of Logroño in Spain.

Initial engagements took her as Zerbinetta (»Ariadne auf Naxos«) to the Teatro Solís (Uruguay), as Gilda (»Rigoletto«) to Clermont-Ferrand, as Norina (»Don Pasquale«) to Las Palmas, as Clorinda (»La Cenerentola«) to the Teatro Maestranza in Seville and as Adina (»L’elisir d’amore«) to the Teatro Cervantes Málaga. Further stages in her career include the London Handel Festival, the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence and the Wexford Opera Festival.

Mercedes Arcuri has developed a wide repertoire in the field of Baroque music in particular, appearing in works such as Purcell's »The Fairy Queen«, Charpentier's »Messe de minuit« and Handel's »Foundling Hospital Anthem« in Barcelona and Madrid.
