Matthias Kostya

Born in Munich, Matthias Kostya received his acting training at the Neue Münchner Schauspielschule, from which he graduated ready to appear on stage. His first engagements took him to the Regensburg City Theatre, where he appeared as Ferdinand von Walther (»Kabale und Liebe«) and Mackie Messer (»Die Dreigroschenoper«). In addition, he also made his début in Regensburg in musical roles such as Judas (»Jesus Christ Superstar«) and Danny (»Grease«).

At the Theater an der Wien, he played Luigi Lucheni and Death in »Elisabeth« and appeared in Hamburg in roles such as the title role in »Buddy – Die Buddy-Holly-Story«. Further engagements took him, for example, as Count Wetter vom Strahl (»Das Käthchen von Heilbronn«) to the Kreuzgangspiele Feuchtwanger [Feuchtwangen Cloister Festival], as Fred Graham (»Kiss me, Kate«) to the Baden City Theatre, as Professor Korn (»Finix«) to the Raimund Theatre in Vienna and as Robert (»Babytalk«) to the Teamtheater, Munich. These were followed by guest appearances at the Komödie Dresden, the Komödie am Kurfürstendamm, the Komödie Düsseldorf and the Theater im Rathaus Essen.

Matthias Kostya has also made a name for himself in films and on television, playing a number of roles in television series such as »Der Alte«, »Die Rosenheim-Cops« and »München 7« and in the television film »Let’s go« by Michael Verhoeven.
