Matteo Ivan Rašić
At the age of six, Matteo Ivan Rašić joined the Wiltener Sängerknaben, where he received his first singing lessons. As a boy soprano, he performed as a soloist in numerous concerts and at the Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck, e.g. in the opera »The Cunning Little Vixen«, and interpreted songs and arias from »Der Vogelhändler« and »La traviata« on tours in China with the Wiltener Sängerknaben.
After that the tenor studied singing at the Tyrolean State Conservatory in cooperation with the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and instrumental and vocal pedagogy with Johannes Stecher at the Mozarteum Salzburg. He also attended master classes with Brigitte Fassbaender, Karlheinz Hanser, Robert Holl, Stephan Matthias Lademann, Thomas Hampson and, as a scholarship holder of the Tyrolean Chamber of Commerce, trained with Vesselina Kasarova and Linda Watson at the Eva Lind Music Academy. In 2022, Matteo Ivan Rašić won the »Opera for Peace Prize« of the Stanisław Moniuszko Competition and the »Tyrolean Classical Singers’ Prize« under the patronage of Jakub Jozef Orliński. In 2024 he was awarded 1st prize at the international singing competition of the Otto Edelmann Singing Competition Vienna 2024 and the corresponding ottoedelmannsociety Audience Award.
Engagements to date have included the Operetta Summer Kufstein, the Croatian Opera Academy (followed by participation in the Waiblingen International Opera Workshop) and as Nemorino (»L’elisir d’amore«) at the Gars 2024 Castle Opera. His oratorio repertoire includes Bach’s »Christmas Oratorio« and »St. Matthew Passion«, Handel’s »Messiah«, Mendelssohn Bartholdy’s »95th Psalm« and Haydn’s »The Seasons« and »The Creation«. Matteo Ivan Rašić is a regular soloist at orchestral masses, Christmas, New Year and gala concerts, including in Bayreuth, Tyrol and at the Christmas concert »Božić u Ciboni« in Croatia.
At the Gärtnerplatztheater, of which he is an ensemble member since the 2023/2024 season, he made his debut in 2022 as Fritz in »La Grande-Duchesse de Gerolstein«. He also sang Tamino (»Die Zauberflöte«), Adam (»Der Vogelhändler«), Marius (»Les Misérables«) and Brian (Monty Python’s »Not the Messiah«), among others.
