Martin Hausberg
Martin Hausberg studied singing at the Academy of Music in Cologne and in the associated opera studio. In 1982 he was awarded a bursary by the Richard-Wagner-Verband Bayreuth and the following year was one of the finalists in the International Belvedere Competition for Opera Singers in Vienna. His first engagement took Martin Hausberg to the City Theatre in Hagen in 1983.
1988‒2024 he has been a member of the ensemble of Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz, singing such roles as Figaro in »Le nozze di Figaro«, Basilio (»Il barbiere di Siviglia«), Truffaldino (»Ariadne auf Naxos«), the Commendatore and Masetto (»Don Giovanni«), Kerkermeister (»Die Kluge«), Sergeant of Police (»Die Piraten von Penzance«), Lord Tristan Mickleford (»Martha«) and Alaska-Wolf Joe (»Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny«).
In parallel, Martin Hausberg also performs in concerts and on radio and television. The singer is regularly engaged as a soloist with Bayerischer Rundfunk and has appeared as a guest with the Bayerischer Rundfunk Choir and Orchestra in roles such as Gernot in Wagner's »Die Feen« at the Semperoper in Dresden and at the Ludwigsburg Festival and as Truffaldino at the Richard Strauss Festival in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Guest appearances have taken Martin Hausberg to such venues as the Kiel Municipal Theatres, the City Theatre Aachen, Bonn Opera and the Augsburg Theatre.
In 2024 he was appointed »Bayerischer Kammersänger«.
