Marco Policastro

Marco Policastro created his first lighting design in 1996 for the ballet »Pathos and ecstasy« at the Greco Theatre in Rome and shortly afterwards was appointed Technical Director of the Compagnia Zappalà Danza in Sicily where he was in charge of productions such as »2gether«, »Mediterraneo« and »Patchwork«. From 1999 on, in collaboration with the Balletto di Toscana, he created the lighting design for ballets such as »No Code« and »Sahara«. Since 2003, Marco Policastro has worked regularly with the Spellbound Contemporary Ballet and its choreographer Mauro Astolfi and conceived the lighting design for ballets such as »Don Giovanni«, »Carmina Burana« and »Downshifting«. In 2004, he designed »Quattro – il disordine delle stagioni« at the Teatro Olimpico in Rome. 2006 marked the start of his collaboration with the Balletto di Torino, with whom he made his debut at the Venice Biennale with »Canto Bianco in un momento di orizzonte verticale« and developed the lighting design for productions such as »Petruschka« and »Primo Toccare Black«.

Most recently, he has created lighting concepts for productions including Ismael Ivo's ballets »Mishima – The garden of forbidden dreams« at the Napoli Teatro Festival and »No Sacre« at the ImPulsTanz Festival in Vienna.

At the Gärtnerplatztheater he created the lighting design for »Berlin 1920 – Eine Burleske« and »Schlagobers«.
