Marco Comin
Marco Comin studied piano and composition at the Benedetto Marcello Conservatory of Music in his native city Venice and also studied history at Università Ca' Foscari of Venice. From 2000 to 2004 he completed his conducting studies with Hans-Dieter Baum and Christian Ehwald at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin and thereafter completed advanced artistic studies.
In 2005-2008 Marco Comin was engaged as second concertmaster at Deutsches Nationaltheater in Weimar where he not only conducted works like »Otello«, »Tosca«, »Nabucco« and »Melusina« but was also given the opportunity for his own rehearsals of »Guillaume Tell«, »La Vie Parisienne«, »Das Wundertheater«, »Der Florentiner Hut«, the premiere of »Die Schneekönigin« and »Ariodante«. From 2008 to 2012 Marco Comin was first concertmaster and deputy general musical director at Kassel Staatstheater. Among the productions he conducted there were »Don Giovanni«, »Lucia di Lammermoor«, »Orlando«, »Faust«, »Don Pasquale«, »A Midsummer Night's Dream«, »Otello« and »La Bohème«.
Marco Comin has also worked as a concert conductor in Germany and abroad. His broad repertory encompasses works from baroque to contemporary.
From season 20122013 until season 2016/2017 he was the principal conductor at Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz and here assumed musical direction of »Don Pasquale«, »Jeanne d'Arc au Bûcher«, »Dornröschen«, the premiere of Friedrich Cerha's »Onkel Präsident«, »Semele«, »Aida«, »Peter Grimes«, »Schlagobers«, »La sonnambula« and »Candide«.
