Soloist

Lucian Krasznec

Lucian Krasznec was born in Banat, Romania. He completed his vocal studies with Cheryl Studer at the Hochschule für Musik in Würzburg, supplemented by lied and master classes with Christian Elsner, Peter Frank, Gerold Huber, Ruth Ziesak and Anna Reynolds. In 2006 he was a scholarship holder of the International Richard Wagner Society as well as of »Rotary International« and in 2007 he was a prize winner of the Armin Knab Lied Competition in Würzburg. In 2008 he received the Franz Völker Prize of the city of Neu-Isenburg and a scholarship from the Richard Strauss Society in Munich.

His stage debut at the Würzburg Mozart Festival as Tamino in »Die Zauberflöte« and guest performances in Coburg and Freiburg were followed by his first permanent engagement at the Staatstheater Darmstadt. From there, the young tenor moved to the Dortmund Theatre in 2011, where he was able to work on central roles of the lyric tenor repertoire, such as Ferrando (»Così fan tutte«), Belmonte (»Die Entführung aus dem Serail«), Don Ottavio (»Don Giovanni«), Walther von der Vogelweide (»Tannhäuser«), Italian Singer (»Der Rosenkavalier«), Nemorino (»Lʼelisir dʼamore«), Alfredo (»La traviata«) and the title role in Gounod’s »Faust«. Parts in operettas were also already part of his repertoire in Dortmund, including René (»Der Graf von Luxemburg«) and Gjurka Karoly (»Roxy und ihr Wunderteam«). In 2010 he made his debut with the title role in »Der Zarewitsch« at the Mörbisch Lake Festival, followed there in 2011 by Sándor Barinkay in »Der Zigeunerbaron«. He made his debut in the title role in »Der Bettelstudent« at the Volksoper Wien in 2016, where he also sang Edwin (»Die Csárdásfürstin«) and Sándor Barinkay. Guest appearances have taken him to the Frankfurt Opera and the Salzburg and Bregenz Festivals, among others.

Since 2016, Lucian Krasznec has been part of the ensemble at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz, where, in addition to his Mozart roles, he sang Nadir (»Les Pêcheurs de Perles«), Lyonel (»Martha«), Baron Kronthal (»Der Wildschütz«), Leicester (»Maria Stuarda«), Rodolfo (»La bohème«), Duca (»Rigoletto«), Lenski (»Eugene Onegin«) and Lord Richard Percey (»Anna Bolena«).

Concert engagements have taken him to the Philharmonie Cologne, the Beethovenhalle Bonn, the Philharmonie Essen, the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Tonhalle Düsseldorf and the Konzerthaus Dortmund, among others. As part of these engagements, he sang with renowned orchestras such as the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn, the German State Philharmonic Orchestra Rhineland-Palatinate, the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra and the Vorarlberg Symphony Orchestra. In 2021 he was awarded the title Bayerischer Kammersänger (Bavarian Chamber Singer) by the Bavarian State Minister for Science and Art.
