Liviu Holender

The young baritone studied piano at the Vienna Conservatory and clarinet at the University of Music in Vienna. He was a member of the Opera School for children at the Wiener Staatsoper and appeared in solo roles including the Shepherd Boy in »Tosca«. In the national »Prima la musica« competition, he was awarded First Place with Distinction in the Chamber Music section. Since 2013, he has been taking singing lessons from Karlheinz Hanser at the University of Music in Vienna and privately from Wicus Slabbert. In addition, he is studying Legal Sciences at the University of Vienna.

In August 2015, Liviu Holender made his début as Doctor Falke in »Die Fledermaus« in a production by the University of Music in Schönbrunn Castle Theatre under Guido Mancusi, directed by Beverly Blankenship. He made a guest appearance at the National Opera Timisoara, Rumania as the Conte di Almaviva in »Le nozze di Figaro«. In the 2016/2017 season, he made his début at the Volksoper in Vienna as Freddy in »My Fair Lady«.

On the concert platform, he has sung in Mahler's Rückert Lieder with the Academic Symphony Orchestra of Vienna. He is also a regular soloist in oratorios at the Stiftskirche St. Peter in Salzburg.

In the 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 seasons he was a member of Gärtnerplatztheaterʼs solo ensemble, where he appeared as Vicomte Cascada (»Die lustige Witwe«) and Liviu (»Ritter Odilo und der strenge Herr Winter«).
