Levente Páll
Levente Páll was born in Transylvania and grew up in Hungary. He studied viola in addition to song and oratorio at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna, before studying singing at Hamburg University of Music and Drama. As a violist he played in orchestras including the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. He was a member of the International Opera Studio at the Staatsoper Hamburg from 2010 until 2012. Since then he returned there for roles as Haraschta in a new production of Leoš Janáček’s »The Cunning Little Vixen«, Baron Douphol and Dottore Grenvil in »La traviata« as well as the Lakai and Haushofmeister in »Ariadne auf Naxos«. 2019 he sang there Iwan Jakowlewitsch/Leiter der Redaktion/Arzt in »Die Nase« and Don Alfonso in »Così fan tutte«.
In 2012 he succeed in his Swedish début at the Opera på Skäret festival as Raimondo in »Lucia di Lammermoor«. In 2013 the bass made his début at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, where he since returned as Lakai in »Ariadne auf Naxos«, Reinmar von Zweiter (»Tannhäuser«) and also as Hermann Ortel (»Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg«). The 2013/2014 season started with his house début at the Theater Magdeburg in the title role of Mozart’s »Le nozze di Figaro«.
From 2014–2016, Levente Páll was permanently engaged as a soloist at the Theater St. Gallen, where he played such roles as Osmin (»Die Entführung aus dem Serail«), Gremin (»Eugen Onegin«), Don Diégue (»Le Cid«) and Banquo (»Macbeth«).
Further engagements include Heinrich der Vogler (»Lohengrin«) at the Opéra National de Montpellier, Masetto (»Don Giovanni«) at the Opéra National de Lorraine and the Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg as well as Joe (»Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny«) at the Musik Fest Hamburg. In 2018 he made his debut at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden London as First Soldier in »Salome« as well as Carceriere in »Tosca« at the Salzburger Osterfestspiele, where he also returned in 2019 as Kothner in »Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg«.
Since 2015 he appeared on concert stages as bass soloist in Beethoven’s 9th Symphony in Budapest, St. Gallen and Stuttgart, in Bach’s »Mass in B minor« in the Musikverein of Vienna and in Bach’s »Christmas Oratorio« in Copenhagen and at the Herkulessaal in Munich. In January 2019 he performed the role of Osmin in Mozart’s »Zaide« with the Münchner Rundfunkorchester broadcasted by the Bayerischer Rundfunk.
Levente Páll has been a permanent member of the ensemble at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz since the 2016/2017 season, where he appeared among others in roles like Don Alfonso (»Così fan tutte«), Nourabad (»Die Perlenfischer«), Baculus (»Der Wildschütz«), Caiaphas (»Jesus Christ Superstar«), Gremin, Leporello (»Don Giovanni«), Bartolo (»Il barbiere di Siviglia«), Don Magnifico (»La Cenerentola«) and in the title role in »Don Pasquale«.
