Kai Luczak

Kai Luczak first worked for six years as a lighting master at the Staatstheater Stuttgart before taking over the lighting design for productions by Anke Rauthmann, Antonio Petris and Jochen Schönleber at the Rossini Festival in Bad Wildbad from 1998 to 2012. From 2007 to 2009 he was responsible for the lighting design for productions by Udo Schürmer and Heinz Trixner at the Schlossfestspiele Ettlingen. In 2007 he took over as head of lighting at the Centraltheater (Schauspiel Leipzig) Leipzig, where he worked with Wolfgang Engel, Volker Lösch, Jorinde Dröse, Konstanze Lauterbach and Jürgen Kruse. 2009‒2012 Kai Luczak was part of the lighting management team at the Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz in Berlin, where he created joint productions with Volker Lösch, Thomas Ostermeier, Patrick Wengenroth and Friederike Heller. 2012‒2018 he was head of the lighting department at the Theater Augsburg. Here he worked with directors such as Jan Philipp Gloger, Ludger Engels, Lorenzo Fioroni, Patrick Kinmonth and Peter Konwitschny. 2018‒2023 Kai Luczak has been head of lighting at the Staatstheater Nuremberg. He also took on the lighting design for »Und der Himmel so weit ‒ Ein Ballettabend für Franz Schubert« at the Graz Opera and for »Götterdämmerung« at the Stuttgart State Opera. From the 2023/2024 season, he heads the lighting department at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz.
