Jürgen Goriup
Jürgen Goriup was given lessons in playing the piano and the violin very early. He studied conducting at the Conservatory of the City of Vienna with Georg Mark and Reinhard Schwarz, completing his degree with honours in 2004, as well as having taken several conducting courses (maestro classes), among them one in the International Conducting Workshop in Mürzzuschlag and one in the Beethoven Workshop with Daniel Barenboim.
Engagements have taken Jürgen Goriup as conductor and assistant (for Marko Letonja, Julia Jones, Giuliano Carella, Daniel Klajner, Rudolf Bibl, among others) to the Opéra National du Rhin, the Toulon Provence Méditerranée Opera, the Opéra National de Bordeaux, Neue Oper Wien, Schönbrunn Palace Theatre and the »J:opera« opera festival.
Among other orchestras that he has conducted are the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, the Radio Symphony Orchestra of Bratislava, the Orchestre Symphonique de Mulhouse, the Orchestra of the Toulon Opera, the Schönbrunn Palace Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestras of the Conservatory as well as of Vienna University of Music, the Young Philharmonic Orchestra of Brandenburg and the Orchestra of the Society of the Friends of Music in Vienna.
2012–2015, Jürgen Goriup hold the positions of study director and concertmaster at Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz, in 2015/2016 he was engaged as the musical assistant of the chief conductor and concertmaster and conducted productions like »Anything Goes«, »Der Flaschengeist«, »Arsen – Ein Rokokothriller«, »Die Zirkusprinzessin«, »Cinderella«, »Salon Pitzelberger« and »A Little Night Music«. Since the 2017/2018 season he is casting consultant.
