Judith Spießer

Judith Spießer was born in Gräfelfing and completed her voice degree with Wolfgang Brendel at the College for Music and Theatre in Munich. Even before graduating she gave concerts, including at the Donizetti Festival in Bergamo, the Simon Mayr Festival and the Young Artists Festival in Bayreuth in the Margrave Opera House. She took Lieder lessons from Helmut Deutsch, interpretation oratory from Juliane Banse and Christoph Hammer and rounded out her education with master courses with Lioba Braun and Marlis Petersen. Since 2011 she has bee a student of Saverio Suarez-Ribaudo.

At the 14th International Louis Spohr Singing Competition in Kassel she was awarded the public prize. She is a fellow of the Richard Wagner Society of Bayreuth. In 2009 the singer made her debut in Qatar as queen of the night (»Die Zauberflöte«) where she has since repeatedly made guest appearances as a soloist. There followed parts like Adele (»Die Fledermaus«), Despina (»Così fan tutte«) and Fauno (»Ascanio in Alba«). Her concert repertoire comprises works like Handel’s »Messiah«, Mozart’s »Exsultate, Jubilate« and Brahms’s (»Deutsches Requiem«). She sang the latter together with Wolfgang Brendel in the Herkulessaal of the Munich Residence, transmitted live by Bavarian Radio. In 2012, the Bach cantata »Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben« was released by the Oehms Classics label with her as soloist soprano. In 2015 she sang at the Herrenchiemsee Festival under the direction of Enoch von Guttenberg and at the Rheingau Festival in Schumann’s »Paradise and the Peri«.

In the 2012/2013 season Judith Spießer was a permanent ensemble member at the provincial theatre in Neustrelitz. Her guest appearances include parts like Germaine (in Kerker’s »Die oberen Zehntausend«) at Gießen Municipal Theatre, Gilda (»Rigoletto«) at the Palatinate Theatre in Kaiserslautern, as queen of the night at the Gelsenkirchen Music Theatre in the Coal Region and at Krefeld Theatre, the title role in »Lucia di Lammermoor« at the Castle Festival of the Lower Bavaria Theatre in Passau as well as Julie in Johanna Doderer’s »Liliom« at the Tirol Provincial Theatre in Innsbruck.

From 2020 until 2022 she was a member of the ensemble at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz where she had already been heard on the stage as Julie (»Liliom«). Here she also appeared as Julia de Weert (»Der Vetter aus Dingsda«), Pamina (»Die Zauberflöte«), Yvonne (»Jonny spielt auf«) and Antonia in »Hoffmanns Erzählungen«.
