Joel Zupan

The counter and musical tenor Joël Zupan graduated from the Berlin University of the Arts in 2022. During his training, he won a prize at the Bundeswettbewerb Gesang and received a special prize for an exceptional stage personality and unconventional performance. He also created the role of Alina Deutschmann in the world premiere of »Eine Stimme für Deutschland« (written and directed by Peter Lund) at the Neukölln Opera. After graduating, he made guest appearances as Jesus (»Jesus Christ Superstar«) at the Kulturgarage Wien, as Brigitte Bordeaux (»Brigitte Bordeaux«, world premiere) and Mephisto (»Urfaust«) at the Burgfestspiele Mayen, as Frank N. Furter (»The Rocky Horror Show«) at the Paderborn Theatre and as the Angel of Death and Lady Capulet (»Romeo & Julia ‒ Liebe ist alles«, world premiere) at the Theater des Westens in Berlin. He reached the quarter-finals of the TV casting show »The Voice of Germany« in 2021. Joël Zupan has been working with James Smidt and Rachelle Jonck since 2023 and is deepening his vocal training as a classical countertenor.
