Jo Strømgren

The Norwegian Jo Strømgren works as a freelance choreographer, director and author. He has created choreographies for many different companies, including the ballet of the Vienna State Opera, the ballet of L’Opéra National du Rhin, the Royal Swedish Ballet, the »Cedar Lake Dance Company«, the GöteborgsOperans Danskompani, the »Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan« and the ballet of the State Theatre in Nuremberg. Jo Strømgren is the House Choreographer of the Norwegian National Ballet. His own dance company, the »Jo Strømgren Kompani«, appears in over fifty countries, presenting a highly individual mixture of dance, drama and puppet theatre.

His directing work has taken Jo Strømgren to such venues as the Royal Danish Theatre, the Norwegian National Theatre, the Malmö City Theatre and the Reykjavik City Theatre. As a member of the Nordic Writers Guild, he has also written countless dramas himself.

In addition, he is also active as a film director – his last film, »The Neighbour«, was presented with a Golden Rose at the »Rose d’Or Festival« in Lucerne.

He first appeared as a guest at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in the 2013/2014 season with »Arsen – Ein Rokokothriller«.
