Jennifer O’Loughlin

Jennifer O’Loughlin completed her studies at the Peabody Conservatory of Music in the United States with a bachelor of music degree for solo singing where she was a student of Ruth Drucker. She continued her studies with Joan Patenaude and a master's in music at the Manhattan School of Music. The following year, a prize winner of numerous competitions (including the 2003 Anneliese Rothenberger Competition, the International Jeunesses Musicales Competition in Montreal and the International Poulenc-Plus Competition), she received a Karajan scholarship for studies at Zurich Opera House and was subsequently for eight years a member of the ensemble of the Vienna Volksoper where she played, among others, Gilda (»Rigoletto«), Musetta (»La bohème«), Cunegonde (»Candide«) and Frau Fluth (»Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor«).

In addition, Jennifer O’Loughlin celebrated major successes, among others, as Pamina (»Die Zauberflöte«) at Grand Théâtre de Genève, as Susanna (»Le nozze di Figaro«) at the Salzburg Festival, as the Queen of the Night (»Die Zauberflöte«) at the Vienna Staatsoper, the Hamburg Staatsoper, at Oslo Opera and at Teatro Municipal de Santiago de Chile, as the Harbinger of Peace (»Rienzi«) at Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse and as Adele (»Die Fledermaus«) at the New National Theatre in Tokyo. She made her debut at Bayerische Staatsoper in the 2010/2011 season as Konstanze in Mozart’s »Die Entführung aus dem Serail«.

On CDs this soprano, who was decorated for her interpretation of the madness scene in »Lucia di Lammermoor« at the finale of the Paris Opera Awards in 2013 with the Maria Callas Prize and the public prize, can also be heard as Glauce in Haydn’s »Acide« with the Haydn Sinfonietta.

As concert singer as well, Jennifer O’Loughlin is regularly on stage, including, in the past, with Lower Austria’s Tonkünstler-Orchester in Wiener Musikverein, with the Prague Symphony Orchestra as well as at the Salzburg and Bregenz festivals where she collaborated with conductors like Zubin Mehta, Daniel Harding, Manfred Honeck, James Conlon, Kirill Petrenko and Nikolaus Harnoncourt.

At Gärtnerplatztheater she has already been seen in the title roles in »Maria Stuarda«, »Anna Bolena«, »Martha«, »La sonnambula«, »Semele«, and as Konstanze (»Die Entführung aus dem Serail«), Fiordiligi (»Così fan tutte«), Gilda (»Rigoletto«) and Rosina (»Il barbiere di Siviglia«). In 2021 she was awarded the title »Bayerische Kammersängerin« (Bavarian Chamber Singer).
