Ioannis Kalyvas
The tenor Ioannis Kalyvas was born in Athens and acquired a degree in communications and mass media communications at the University of Athens. He subsequently first studied piano and singing at the Attiko Conservatory before switching to the Hochschule für Musik in Würzburg where he was taught by Cheryl Studer and already sang parts like Obadjah in Mendelssohn Bartholdy's »Elias«, the Evangelist in Bach's »Matthäus-Passion« and the title role in Luigi Rossi's »Orfeo«. As a fellow of the Richard Wagner Society he has since 2014 been studying at August Everding Bayerische Theaterakademie in Munich. His repertoire encompasses parts like Don Ottavio (»Don Giovanni«), Tamino (»Die Zauberflöte«), Ferrando (»Così fan tutte«), Nemorino (»L'elisir d'amore«), Count Almaviva (»Il barbiere di Siviglia«), the Helmsman (»Der fliegende Holländer«), Arlecchino (»Pagliacci«) and Alfredo (»La Traviata«).
