Inge Schäffner

Costume designer Inge Schäffner completed her training as a master costume designer with a master craftsman’s examination. She then went on to study costume design and costume history in Stuttgart, during which time she assisted in the costume and make-up departments at the Stuttgart State Theatre. She created her first sets for the Aalen Theatre, where she later became head of the costume and make-up department. She has also worked on numerous film and theatre productions, including Disney’s »Beauty and the Beast« in Stuttgart, Verdi’s »Un ballo in maschera« at the Bregenz Festival and Goethe’s »Faust« at the Stadttheater Klagenfurt. She was a member of the costume and make-up department at the Krefeld and Mönchengladbach theatres and set up the costume and make-up department at the Neuschwanstein Festival Theatre in Füssen, where she helped launch the musical production »Ludwig II ‒ Sehnsucht nach dem Paradies«. Inge Schäffner has been Director of Costume and Make-up at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz since 2007.
