Uta Meenen
Uta Meenen has since 2001 been a freelance costume designer at numerous well-known operas and drama theatres in Europe. Engagements first brought her to the dramatic theatres of Düsseldorf, Bochum, Hamburg, Berlin, Cologne as well as Graz and Vienna. There she worked with directors like Patrick Schlösser (»Anatol«, »Witch Hunt«), Anna Badora (»Verbrennungen«, »Antigone«), Jan Klata (»Richard III«) and Dušan David Pařizek (»Platonov«). As of 2004 works were performed at various opera houses and in this way costumes were created, among others, for Basel Theatre, Landestheater Linz, the St Gallen Festival and the Domstufen Erfurt.
After 2010, Uta Meenen also furnished musical productions and operettas, such as »Fiddler on the Roof« with Peter Hailer, »Cabaret« and »Die Csárdásfürstin« with Sandra Wissmann as well as »Evita«, »My Fair Lady«, and »Kiss me, Kate« with Tom Ryser. In recent years she collaborated with the stage designer and producer Ben Baur in numerous projects, among other ones, »Don Giovanni« and »Dialogues des Carmélites« at the Gelsenkirchen Music Theatre in the Coal Region, »Romeo and Juliette« and »Il trovatore« at the Graz Opera, »Il pirata« and »Faust« at St Gallen Theatre, »La traviata« and »Lucia di Lammermoor« at Saarbrücken Municipal Theatre as well as August Enna’s »Cleopatra« at the Danish National Opera in Aarhus.
