Herbert Hillig

Herbert Hillig studied law as well as theatre and musicology at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich. After his first professional position at the State Ministry for Education and Cultural Affairs, he worked as a consultant for education, science and art at the Bavarian State Representation in Bonn from 1987 to 1990. From 1990 to 1993 he worked as Administrative Director of the General Directorate of the Bavarian State Theatres (General Director: August Everding). From 1993 to 1998 he was administrative director of the newly founded Bavarian Theatre Academy August Everding in the Prinzregententheater, where he was jointly responsible for the reconstruction of the Prinzregententheater as well as the establishment of the Bavarian Theatre Academy. In 1998, Herbert Hillig moved to the State Ministry for Science and the Arts, where he was responsible for the areas of music promotion, homeland preservation and UNESCO intangible cultural heritage. From 2019 to 2022, he held the office of Managing Director of the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz.
