Gunnar Frietsch
Born in the northern Black Forest, the baritone Gunnar Frietsch first trained as a state-certified actor in Hamburg. Even before graduating, he played the role of Franz Moor in a touring production of Schiller’s »Die Räuber« in Germany and Switzerland. He studied singing with Caroline Thomas and Mario Zeffiri at the Detmold Academy of Music. Master classes with Hans Sotin, Bo Skovhus and Lars Woldt complemented his training.
In 2015 Gunnar Frietsch made his debut as Fiorello in »Il barbiere di Siviglia« under the musical direction of Will Humburg at the Staatstheater Darmstadt, where he subsequently also appeared on stage as The Emcee in the musical »Cabaret« and as Helmer Hanssen in the opera »South Pole«. He has also appeared in the world premiere of Ingrid Lausund’s »Trilliarden« at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg, as Pugsley Addams in »The Addams Family« at the Landestheater Detmold, as Georg in »Das Orangenmädchen« at the Stadttheater Gießen, as well as in the musical world premiere of »Zucker« and as Adson von Melk in a musical version of »The Name of the Rose« at the Luisenburg-Festspiele Wunsiedel.
Gunnar Frietsch has been an ensemble member of the Gärtnerplatztheater since the 2021/2022 season.
