Gerd Anthoff

Gerd Anthoff grew up in Munich’s Westend district, received acting lessons from Peter Rieckmann and a BR scholarship to support young talent. He has performed at the Münchner Kammerspiele, the Volkstheater München, the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz, the Komödie im Bayerischen Hof and the Salzburg Festival, among others. He was a member of the ensemble at the Bayerisches Staatsschauspiel until 2011. He has worked with directors such as Ingmar Bergmann, Dieter Dorn, Hans Lietzau and Hans Neuenfels. He came to television in 1989 when he took on the title role in BR’s Joseph Filser series. Since then, he has appeared in the BR series »Löwengrube«, »Die Hausmeisterin« and »Café Meineid«, among others. He became known throughout Germany as Toni Rambold in »Der Bulle von Tölz«. In »Unter Verdacht« he played Dr Claus Reiter. In 1995 he received the Bavarian Television Award for »Über Kreuz«, in 2003 the Adolf Grimme Award for »Unter Verdacht«, in 2008 the »AZ Star of the Year« and in 2010 the Bavarian Order of Merit. He was also awarded the »München leuchtet ‒ den Freunden Münchens« medal in gold and the »Pro meritis scientiae et literarum« award.
