Frances Lucey
Frances Lucey initially studied Musicology and Modern Languages in her home city of Dublin before turning to singing. She was a member of the Opera Studio of the Bayerische Staatsoper and was later taken on in the ensemble there, where she sang roles such as Papagena (»Die Zauberflöte«), Despina (»Così fan tutte«), Zerlina (»Don Giovanni«), Xenia (»Boris Godunow«), Gretel (»Hänsel und Gretel«), Cleopatra (»Giulio Cesare in Egitto«) and Atalanta (»Xerxes«). She has been employed in the ensemble of Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz since the 1997/1998 season.
In addition, Frances Lucey appears internationally in concerts and recitals, especially in the USA, where she has performed in the famous Frick Collection and at various festivals, with the Philadelphia Orchestra and with the American Composers Orchestra in New York's Carnegie Hall. Further guest appearances have taken her to such cities as Stuttgart, Dresden, Dublin and Seattle. Frances Lucey has recorded Charles Villiers Stanford’s Requiem with the RTE Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, which was published by Naxos. Further CD projects include »Bach Meets Mozart« and »Off To Philadelphia« with the label Amati among others.
