Fernando Melo

Fernando Melo was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. At the age of 16, he was awarded a scholarship to train at the Vienna State Opera Ballet. Since then he has lived in Europe, where he has built his career as a dancer and choreographer, creating works all over the world. Among the companies, he has choreographed for are GöteborgsOperans Danskompani and Skånes Dansteater Malmö in Sweden, National Dance Company Wales in the United Kingdom, Introdans in the Netherlands, Luzerner Theater in Switzerland, Aterballetto in Italy and for the Ballet Hispanico New York in the USA. Fernando Melo also choreographs for opera productions; his most recent projects include works for Vocal Futures in London, the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse, the Cologne Opera, La Monnaie in Brussels, the Teatro Comunale di Bologna and the Royal Danish Opera in Copenhagen. »Minute Made« marks Fernando Meloʼs first collaboration with the ballet corps of the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz.
