Elena Gorshunova

The Russian soprano Elena Gorshunova trained as a singer at the Gnessin Music Academy in Moscow and in 2003 joined the ensemble of the St. Petersburg Mariinsky Theatre, where she interpreted roles such as Naiade (»Ariadne auf Naxos«), Brigitta (»Violanta«), Frasquita (»Carmen«), Contessa di Folleville (»Il viaggio a Reims«), Gilda (»Rigoletto«), Teresa (»Benvenuto Cellini«) and Pamina (»Die Zauberflöte«).

Since 2010, Elena Gorshunova has been a member of the ensemble of the Saxony State Opera in Dresden, where she made her début as Sophie (»Der Rosenkavalier«) and then appeared in such roles as Konstanze (»Die Entführung aus dem Serail«), Musetta (»La bohème«) and Gianetta (»La gazza ladra«).

She has made numerous international guest appearances in such roles as Giulietta (»I Capuleti e i Montecchi«) and as Elvira (»I Puritani«) in Riga, as Gilda (»Rigoletto«) in locations including Nancy and Warsaw, as Susanna (»Le nozze di Figaro«) in Tokyo and regularly as the Contessa di Folleville (»Il viaggio a Reims«) in Paris, Washington and Rome, among others.

Elena Gorshunova is the winner of numerous international singing competitions, including the Bella Voce Competition in Moscow (2001), the Geneva International Competition (2003) and the International Rimsky Korsakov Competition in St Petersburg (2004). In 2005, she won 1st prize in the Anneliese Rothenberger Competition in Mainau and 3rd prize at the International Elena Obraztsova Competition in St. Petersburg.
