Dubravka Mušović

After completing a degree in architecture in Zagreb, Dubravka Mušović started to study singing and obtained a master's degree in the subjects of opera and song. During her course, she attended master courses with Dunja Vejzović and Ruza Baldani and then worked with Eva Blahova.

Dubravka Mušović made her debut in the year 2000 at the Prague State Opera singing the title role in Bizet's »Carmen«, a part which she also sang in 2002 at the Janáček Theatre in Brno. Her first permanent engagement then took her to the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, where she took on roles in Handel's »Giulio Cesare in Egitto« and Bellini's »I Capuleti e i Montecchi«. In addition, she made her role debut as Amneris in Verdi's »Aida« in Zagreb.

From the 2005/2006 season, Dubravka Mušović was for several years a permanent member of the ensemble at the Staatstheater Saarbrücken(Saarland) where she played Eboli in Verdi's »Don Carlos«, Begbick in Weill's »Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny«, Fricka in Wagner's »Das Rheingold« and Adalgisa in Bellini's »Norma«, among others. Alongside her commitments in Saarbrücken, she also remained closely associated with the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, where she appeared in such roles as Mère Marie in Poulenc's »Dialogue des Carmélites« and Santuzza in Mascagni's »Cavalleria rusticana«.

At the Trier Antikenfestspiele in 2007, Dubravka Mušović sang Dalila in Camille Saint-Saën's »Samson und Dalila«. In the 2009/2010 season, she performed in a number of roles, including Ježibaba in Dvořák's »Rusalka« at Oper Graz in a new production by Stefan Herheim and Adalgisa in a new production of »Norma« at the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb.

The mezzo-soprano is also an active concert singer, and has been involved in many performances internationally, including performances of Mozart's »Requiem«, Bach's »B Minor Mass« and Dvořák's »Stabat Mater«. In April 2006, she sang with Jonas Kaufmann at the Anniversary Concert of the Richard Wagner Association in Saarland at the Saarbrücken State Theatre.
