Dancer
Douglas Evangelista was born in Brazil and trained at the Ballet Stagium, one of the oldest and best-known ballet companies in Brazil, as well as the EDAP ‒ Espaço de Dança e Arte Paulista. He was then a guest dancer with the Companhia de Dança Cisne Negro in São Paulo. He took part in the »Seminário Internacional de Dança de Brasília«, where he won a scholarship to Switzerland, and was a solo dancer in the Cinevox Junior Company. After two years in Switzerland, he moved to Germany. First he got an engagement for the dance company of the Gießen Theatre. He then danced for the Eisenach Ballet. Since 2019, Douglas Evangelista has been a member of the ballet ensemble of the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz. During his time in Europe he danced in choreographies by Marco Goecke, Ina Christel Johannessen, Ioannis Mandafounis, Bryan Arias, Erna Ómarsdóttir, Rui Horta, Eyal Dadon, Ihsan Rustem, James Wilton, Jacek Przybylowicz, Micha Purucker, Tarek Assam, Emanuele Soavi and Karl Alfred Schreiner, among others.
