Dmitry Egorov
Dmitry Egorov was born in St. Petersburg. In his early years he studied at Glinka Choral College under St. Petersburg State Academic Capella. Then he entered St. Petersburg State Conservatoire named after Rimsky-Korsakov where he studied organ and choral conducting. As an organist he won the first prize at the International Music Competition in Dobrich (Bulgaria). Later he continued his education at the University of Church Music of the Protestant Church of Westphalia in Herford (Germany). Dmitry Egorov worked as an organist at the Mariinsky Theatre and also sang as a member of different chamber choirs and ensembles in many countries around the world. At one of the concerts held in Germany his outstanding vocal talent was noticed and Dmitry Egorov was adviced to continue his vocal education.
In 2007 he had entered The Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz (Germany) where he studied as a countertenor under the guidance of Claudia Eder. Since then he gives recitals in different cities of Germany and performs in operas staged at German opera theaters, such as theaters of Mainz, Frankfurt, Halle and Münster. Among the parts he performed there are Pisandro in »Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria« by Monteverdi, Holofernes in »La Giuditta« by Scarlatti, Scitalce in »La Semiramide riconosciuta« by Gluck and also Goffredo and Medoro in »Rinaldo« and the title part in »Orlando« by Händel.
In 2007 and 2008 Dmitry Egorov became the prize winner of the Meistersinger International Competition (Neustadt, Germany) and in February 2008 he became the prize winner of the Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg International Competition (Berlin) and was granted with a scholarship of Vera and Volker Doppelfeld Foundation.
