Daria Kornysheva
Born in Moscow, the costume and set designer Daria Kornysheva attended the theatre school at the Moscow Art Theatre from 1990 to 1995, and later switched to Karl Kneidl’s stage design class at the Düsseldorf Art Academy. Engagements have taken her to the Volksbühne, the Schlosspark Theater and the Neuköllner Oper Berlin, the Neues Theater Halle, the Staatstheater Stuttgart, the Bad Hersfelder Festspiele, the Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck, the Volksoper Wien, the Oper Graz and the theatres in Aachen, Freiburg, Magdeburg and Osnabrück. For her costume design for »Axel an der Himmelstür« at the Volksoper Wien she was awarded both the Austrian music theatre prize »Goldener Schikaneder« and the »Operetten-Frosch« by BR-Klassik. Her most recent work includes the costume designs for the productions of »Die Csárdásfürstin« and »Der Zigeunerbaron« at the Volksoper Wien (both directed by Peter Lund) as well as »Guys and Dolls« at the Oper Graz (directed by Henry Mason).
She has also worked on numerous film productions, including the feature films »Status Yo«, »Forbidden Girl« (director: Till Hastreiter), »Bild von ihr« (director: Pee Wee Horris), »Platonow« and "Carlo Gesualdo. Ehre, Mord und Madrigale« (both directed by Andreas Morell) as well as the documentaries »Die Florence Foster Jenkins Story« (directed by Ralf Pleger) and »Philarmonix« (directed by Magdalena Zeba-Schwind). She also created the sets for several projects at the Berlin Philharmonie, such as »Nonsence in Residence« with Patricia Kopatschinskaja.
