Damien Jalet
Damien Jalet is a choreographer and dancer of Franco-Belgian origin. After studying contemporary dance in Belgium and New York, he started his career in 1998 with Wim Vandekeybus in the piece »The Day of Heaven and Hell«. Today, he works with a wide range of artists in different genres, including representatives of the visual arts (such as Antony Gormley, Marina Abramovic, Jim Hodges), the world of fashion (including Jean-Paul Lespagnard, Hussein Chalayan, Riccardo Tisci) and music (such as Fennesz, Loscil, Winter Family, Florence and the machine). In 2013, he was awarded the »Ordre des Arts et des Lettres« by the French Government. His most recent works as a choreographer include »THR(O)UGH« (2015, in collaboration with Jim Hodges) and »BABEL 7.16« (presented at the Festival d’Avignon in 2016). Damien Jalet has taken over the artistic direction of the UK National Youth Dance Company for 2017.
