Dagmar Morell

Dagmar Morell trained at the Central School of Speech & Drama, London. After graduating in 2002, she initially designed costumes for installations and Off West End theatres in London, including the Riverside Studios, Upstairs at the Gatehouse and The Place, and for Christopher Marlowe's »Tamburlaine the Great« in the excavations of the Old Rose Theatre. In 2003, she designed the costumes for the prize-winning theatre production »Die 12 Geschworenen« (Edinburgh Festival, theatre festivals in Perth, Adelaide, Wellington) and then in 2004 for »Einer flog über das Kuckucksnest« in London's West End (Gielgud Theatre, Garrick Theatre, Edinburgh Festival).

After working as a freelance assistant for theatres such as the Bayerisches Staatsschauspiel, the Stuttgart State Opera and the Theater an der Wien in Vienna, she created her own works from 2008 on, including »Der Ignorant und der Wahnsinnige« (Schauspielhaus Bochum), »Die Entführung aus dem Serail« (Kultur- und Kongresszentrum Luzern, Theater Freiburg), »Orlando Furioso« (Bayerische Theaterakademie), »Herodiade« (Vlaamse Opera), »Die Zauberflöte« (Nationaltheater Mannheim) and »Crazy for You« (Theater Magdeburg). She worked in collaboration with Gil Mehmert on creating »Die Fledermaus« (Aalto-Theater Essen), »Jenseits von Eden« (Schauburg München) and »Les Misérables« (Theater Magdeburg).

At the Gärtnerplatztheater she designed the costumes for »Hair« in 2016, for »Die Faschingsfee« in 2017 and for »Drei Männer im Schnee« in 2019.

Productions
