Claus Opitz

Claus Opitz studied at the Joop van den Ende Academy in Hamburg. There followed engagements at the Kiel Opera House (Moose in »Crazy for You« and Barnaby Tucker in »Hello, Dolly«), at the Schleswig-Holstein Landestheater (Billy Crocker in »Anything Goes«) as well as at Heilbronn Theatre (Hanna in »La Cage aux Folles«). In »Flashdance« he was engaged both at Chemnitz Theatre as well as at Staatstheater Darmstadt, in Darmstadt he was additionally part of the ensemble of »Cabaret«. In Stefan Huber’s staging of »Funny Girl« he played at Dortmund Theatre, at Nuremberg Staatstheater, at Chemnitz Theatre as well as at the Graz Opera. At the Fulda Castle Festival he has regularly been seen on stage since 2015, particularly in »Pope Joan«, »Treasure Island«, and »Der Medicus«. At Kiel Opera he played Jerry Mulligan (»An American in Paris«). He debuted at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in 2016 as James the Elder in »Jesus Christ Superstar«.
