Christoph Filler

The Baritone Christoph Filler studied at Vienna University for Music and the Performing Arts under Peter Edelmann. He gained his first stage experiences as a child at Theater an der Wien in Vienna in 1995-1997 where for two seasons he played the young crown prince Rudolf in the musical »Elisabeth«. In April 2012 Christoph Filler won the Schubert Lieder Competition in Steyr and was award winner at the Oscar Straus Competition in Vienna. He additionally won the sponsorship prize of the »Wiener Städtische Vienna Insurance Group« in connection with the Giuseppe Sinopoli Competition in Jennersdorf in the summer of 2012.

After his opera debut in Perchtoldsdorf in 2006 with the Knappenhof Opera as Papageno in »Die Zauberflöte« he expanded his repertory with numerous major roles. Among other things, in 2012 he appeared as Figaro in »Le nozze di Figaro«. In the summer of 2013 he interpreted the same role in a German version in the course of the Festival am Semmering. In addition, he could be seen as Eisenstein in »Die Fledermaus« at the Schönbrunn Chamber Opera. In 2013/2014 he was a regular member of the ensemble at Zurich International Opera Studio and took on roles like Marullo (»Rigoletto«), Guilelmo (»Così fan tutte«), Ned Keene (»Peter Grimes«) as Cover as well as Alexandre (»Alexandre Bis«), Deputati FIamminghi (»Don Carlos«), a Cappadocian (»Salome«), Dumas (»Andrea Chénier«) and the Capitaine des Sbires (»Les Contes dʼHoffmann«).

In the summer of 2014 Christoph Filler sang Toni Schlumberger in »Die Zirkusprinzessin« at the Stadttheater Baden, a part that he later repeated at Deutsche Oper am Rhein in a coproduction with Gaertnerplatztheater. In the 2014/2015 season he returned to Baden as Boni in »Die Csárdásfürstin« and in 2015 sang Belcore (»L'elisir d'amore«) on a tour of Korea and appeared in the childrenʼs opera »Die Schneekönigin« at Esterhazy Castle in Eisenstadt. In 2015/2016 he has additionally appeared as Papageno on the stage at Stadttheater Baden.

From September 2016 till August 2019 he was ensemble member of the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz.
