Carsten Süss

From 1996 to 2001, Carsten Süss was a member of the ensemble at the Saxony State Opera in Dresden. He has worked on a freelance basis since 2001 and has appeared since then as a guest at many German and international opera houses in places such as Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Cologne, Leipzig, Karlsruhe, Nuremberg, Wiesbaden, Cagliari, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Shanghai. During this time, he interpreted many different roles in his field, including Jaquino, Tamino, Ferrando, Don Ottavio, Edgardo, Ernesto, Nemorino, Froh, Loge, David, Lenski and Leukippos. He worked with such conductors as Semyon Bychkov, Sir Colin Davis, Lothar Zagrosek, Paolo Carignani, Markus Stenz and Bruno Weil and with directors such as Peter Konwitschny, Dietrich W. Hilsdorf, Udo Samel and Keith Warner.

In 2006, the magazine »Opernwelt« named Carsten Süss as »Singer of the Year«. The tenor has also worked for many years as a recitalist and concert performer and has regularly appeared since 2006 as a guest at the Schubertiades in Hohenems and Schwarzenberg. In addition, he has been invited to perform in recitals and concerts in cities such as Barcelona, Oviedo, Moscow, Vilnius, Berlin and Munich and at festivals in Hong Kong, Gstaad and Bregenz.

At the Gärtnerplatztheater he played Count Balduin Zedlau in »Wiener Blut« and Dr. Otto Siedler in »Im weißen Rössl«.
